Windsor Place

Windsor Place's lushly landscaped front courtyard.

Windsor Place is a 167 unit condominium property conveniently located in the heart of uptown Phoenix, Arizona. Situated between 3rd Street and 5th Street on the South side of Thomas Road, Windsor Place offers a distinctive urban living experience to its many residents.

History

Windsor Place was built in 1958. At the time it was built, it was an apartment complex that accommodated members of the Phoenix Country Club (located directly opposite Windsor Place at 7th Street/Thomas) and their guests who were visiting from out of town. In 1983 the company that owned Windsor Place, a California corporation known as Coam, petitioned to convert the complex into condominiums.

"Style in the Heart of Phoenix"

When the condos went up for sale in 1983, the development company commissioned a brochure to sell Windsor Place to prospective buyers. The brochure was titled "Style in the Heart of Phoenix," and featured prominent photographs of Windsor Place (famously pink and turquoise at the time) against the backdrop of the not-yet-completed Qwest Tower. Here's how the sales brochure (outer view | inner view) describes Windsor Place:

Three elevators descend into the lush inner courtyards of Windsor Place where walkways wind through tropical landscaping and along two, Cool Decked swimming pools. Umbrella tables and lounge chairs beckon residents to linger in the quiet or enjoy an evening meal pool-side at the gas barbeques.

The courtyard gardens of Windsor Place are insulated from the hustle and bustle of the city by perimeter walls. Inside, residents enjoy the convenience of laundry facilities, the availability of the clubhouse for special occasions, and covered parking. Executive suites with linens, dishes, TV and maid service are also available.

Windsor Place has gone through a lot of changes since 1983, but it's unique central location remains a powerful draw for its residents. Windsor Place is now a secure, gated community within walking distance of the Valley's popular light rail system.
